Capitals end Stars’ four-game winning streak with 3-2 victory

Taylor Raddysh scored the game-winning goal late in the second period and the Washington Capitals beat the Dallas Stars 3-2 on Thursday night.

It was Raddysh’s first goal in a Capitals uniform. He signed with the team as a free agent this summer.

Tom Wilson scored his third goal in three games and Dylan Strome scored once for the Capitals, who are coming off their second straight win. Charlie Lindgren made 22 saves.

Colin Blackwell scored shorthanded and Jason Robertson scored at even strength for the Stars, who had won their first four games of the season.

Rookie Oskar Back earned his first NHL point by setting up Blackwell’s goal. Casey DeSmith gave up three shots on 26.

Golden Knights 3 — Lightning 4
Nikita Kucherov scored the game-winning goal with 55 seconds left in the game and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3.

Kucherov’s goal, his sixth of the campaign, came just 87 seconds after Brandon Hagel tied the game.

Kucherov finished with two goals while Janis Moser had a goal and two assists for the Lightning, who remained unbeaten in three games (3-0-0).

Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 22 shots in his team’s victory.

Brayden McNabb, Pavel Dorofeyev and Ivan Barbashev replied for the Golden Knights. Adin Hull stopped 21 shots.

Jack Eichel set up two goals for Nevada. He has already collected 10 points in five games this season.

Sabres 4 — Blue Jackets 6
Kirill Marchenko and Mathieu Olivier each had a goal and an assist, leading the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 6-4 victory over the Buffalo Sabres.

Daniil Tarasov stopped 21 shots for the Blue Jackets, who earned their first home win of the season.

Yegor Chinakhov, Adam Fantilli, Zachary Aston-Reese and Damon Severson also lit the red light for the winners. Zach Werenski added two assists.

Jiri Kulich scored his first career NHL goal, but the Sabres still suffered their sixth loss in seven games this season.

Ryan McLeod, Owen Power and JJ Peterka also found the back of the net for the visitors. Devon Levi made 19 saves.

Canucks 3 — Panthers 2 (P)
JT Miller scored at 2:09 of overtime and the Vancouver Canucks earned their first win of the season, beating the Florida Panthers 3-2.

Teddy Blueger and Quinn Hughes were the other scorers for the Canucks, while Kevin Lankinen stopped 26 shots.

Anton Lundell scored his fourth goal in three games for Florida.

Jesper Boqvist also scored and Sergei Bobrovsky made 30 saves.

Vancouver has just two wins in the team’s last 10 visits to Florida State.

Rangers 5 — Red Wings 2
Artemi Panarin scored his eighth career hat trick, helping the New York Rangers to a 5-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings.

Panarin became the first player in Rangers history to have at least two points in each of the team’s first four games.

After scoring on the Rangers’ first shot, he added two power-play goals. He finished the game with five goals and 11 points this season.

Vincent Trocheck, who played an accomplice in Panarin’s three goals, also scored with the man advantage.

Victor Mancini was the other Rangers goal scorer and Jonathan Quick made 29 saves.

Moritz Seider and JT Compher replied for the Red Wings.

Detroit let a 5-on-3 power play slip away in the first period. The Red Wings have scored just once in 13 power plays this season.

On Monday, the Rangers beat the Red Wings 4-1 at Madison Square Garden.

The Rangers will be the visitors in Toronto on Saturday night, against the Maple Leafs.

Oilers 4 — Predators 2
Brett Kulak scored twice and the Edmonton Ollies defeated the Nashville Predators 4-2.

Kulak, who scored just three goals last season, tied the game in the first period before sealing the game into an empty net.

Connor McDavid scored his first goal of the season while Jeff Skinner had his second for the Oilers, who won their second straight game.

Calvin Pickard stopped 25 shots to collect his first win of the season.

Filip Forsberg and Jonathan Marchessault provided the response for the Predators, who are still without a win this season.

Juuse Saros allowed three goals on 35 shots in a losing cause.

Islanders 0 — Blues 1 (P)
Joel Hofer stopped 34 shots to help the St. Louis Blues win 1-0 over the New York Islanders.

Hofer also had a hand in Jake Neighbours’ goal at 2:04 of overtime.

He made a long pass against the boards to Philip Broberg, in the neutral zone. The Swede passed it in front of the net to Neigbours, who redirected the puck successfully.

Broberg has collected at least one point in every Blues game this season.

The Blues had been trailing by at least two goals in their first four games of the season.

Ilya Sorkin made 29 saves for the Islanders, who will host the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night.

Sharks 2 — Blackhawks 4
Tyler Bertuzzi and Nick Foligno scored on the power play to lead the Chicago Blackhawks to a 4-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks.

It was the Hawks’ first home game of the season.

The team also benefited from goals from Taylor Hall and Jason Dickinson.

Connor Bedard and Teuvo Teravainen each had two assists. The latter has three goals and seven points in five games.

Tyler Toffoli and Fabian Zetterlund scored for San Jose, which is 0-2-2.

The club will try to do better on Friday evening in Winnipeg.
